I have a hybrid workweek as a writer for a trade publication. I relate to needing to find structures that work with when my mind is best optimized for deep work without distractions. My office is relatively small and it is almost always dead quiet with everyone working in their cubicles, rarely chatting with one another. I usually find it easier to focus in the office as a result. I often find I have more distractions at home. Part of it is because I find myself feeling more obligated to keep an eye on my email and Teams messages, which end up being more frequent than when we're all in-office. I think it's because if I'm focused on something while in-office and I miss a message, it's obvious it was because I was focused on something I was working on. But if the same thing happens while remote, I worry it will look as if I'm not at my computer when I should be. Now, I feel my supervisor trusts me quite a bit so that's not really a concern I need to have, but it's almost out of habit that I have it. And being ADHD, I am very prone to becoming fixated on what I may be writing and missing some messages intended for me, or for the group, and then feeling that twinge of anxiety.
